Two of Key West’s biggest fall events. Fantasy Fest takes over October 16 to 25, and the World Championship powerboat races close it out November 1 to 8. Guests come back every year, and at checkout it’s usually the same: “Can’t wait till next year,” or “Can I stay a little longer?” Most of them could use a vacation from this vacation. Here’s what’s happening.

Fantasy Fest 2026: Musical Icons and Iconic Musicals

Fantasy Fest returns October 16 to 25 with the 2026 theme, Musical Icons and Iconic Musicals. This is a full-scale costume extravaganza: feathered headdresses taller than the people wearing them, body paint as a fine art, and ten days when dressing up isn’t a party gimmick; it’s the whole point.

There’s a party every day and night, and most have their own themes, so check the schedules and come prepared: lots of glitter, boas, tutus, and body paint. If you don’t have a costume, you’re definitely in the wrong place.

The festival started in 1979 as a plan to bring visitors to the island during a quiet stretch of the calendar. Nearly five decades later, it’s drawing creative revelers from around the world, and the quiet stretch is long gone.

Can’t-Miss Fantasy Fest Traditions

While there are so many events happening across the island, make sure you add these to your festival itinerary:

  • Bahama Village Goombay Festival: Friday and Saturday, October 16–17, noon to midnight | This is where festival week starts, and the regulars know to show up hungry. Petronia Street fills with conch fritters, jerk chicken, island music from reggae to soca, and the locals out in force before the costumes take over the rest of the week. Family-friendly and free.
  • The Masquerade March: Friday, October 23 | Ask anyone who comes back every year and they’ll tell you the Masquerade March is the one they’d never skip. It’s the locals’ parade: no floats, no barricades, just a costumed procession walking through Old Town, and if you’re dressed for it, nobody’s stopping you from joining.
  • Fantasy Fest Parade: Saturday, October 24 | The finale. You find your spot on Duval early, the floats and the year’s most ambitious costumes roll past, and the visitors and locals cheer on from the sidewalks. Everything the theme promised all week gets delivered in one night.

Also on the Island That Week … Zombies on Bikes

Zombie Bike Ride: Sunday, October 18 | Thousands of zombies on bicycles leave Fort East Martello at 6:00 PM and pedal four miles into Old Town. It’s exactly what it sounds like, and it’s one of the best things you’ll see all year. Find out all about it and register here.

If you're not riding, we suggest watching it at our sister property, Southernmost Beach Resort, as they host the SOMO Short "Cut" Dead Zone at the corner of Duval and South, a zombie block and watch party right on the ride's official route, with a DJ plus food and drink specials from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Free to attend.

  • Barbie’s Pink Pool Party for Breast Cancer Awareness: Friday, October 16, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM | The Marker pool. The resort kicks off festival week in pink, with our annual Barbie and Ken costume contest, a DJ, games, and pink drink specials, all benefiting Womankind Key West. $20 donation at KeysTix.com.
  • Les Greene & the Swayzees Musical Icons Pool Party: Thursday, October 22, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM | The Marker pool. Grab your best Madonna or Bowie gear for an afternoon of early rock ’n’ roll poolside. Free.
  • Reggae Rehab Pool Party with Channel 3: Sunday, October 25, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM | The Marker pool. Ten days of festival deserve a soft landing. Channel 3 closes the week poolside, reggae style. Free.

Race World Offshore Key West World Championship: November 1–8, 2026

The costumes are barely packed away when the race boats arrive. The Key West World Championship closes the Race World Offshore season November 1 to 8, and the 2026 running is the 45th, the oldest race on the series schedule.

  • Duval Street Boat Parade: Sunday, November 1, 4:00 PM | Before the boats ever touch water, more than 75 of them roll down Duval. A boat parade moving through Old Town at walking speed is a sight to see.
  • Race Village: Open all week at Truman Waterfront Park. Walk among the boats, meet the crews, and watch the teams prep between sessions.
  • Race Days: Wednesday, November 4 | Friday, November 6 | Sunday, November 8. The boats top 140 mph on a course that cuts through Key West Harbor, and you’ll hear them long before you see them.

Transit Tip: Parking near Truman Waterfront Park is limited during Race Week, so the free Duval Loop shuttle, a rideshare, or a bicycle is the better plan. The Marker sits in the Historic Seaport, minutes from the waterfront action.

The Marker Race Week Lineup

  • Rob Benton Live Concert and Pool Party: Sunday, November 1, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM | The Marker pool. Open to the public. Live music on boat parade day.
  • Good Boy Vodka Powerboat Weekend Pool Party: Saturday, November 7, 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM | The Marker pool. Snacks, product samples, and swag.

Schedules and race details are at raceworldoffshore.com.

And with this year’s Fantasy Fest theme, Musical Icons and Iconic Musicals, we can’t wait to see who takes a stroll down Duval Street. How many Dollys will we see? Cats, Phantoms, rock stars, and who knows what else. Check our events calendar for what’s happening at the resort this fall.

Cheers to festivals, friends, and celebrations. #lovethemarker
